Springtails are a must for all terrariums, propagation boxes, and just good to have in all your plants! They are vital to the health of terrariums, and propagation boxes because they feed on fungus. They are so small you will rarely notice them, but eat enough fungus to out compete mold and fungus gnats! They will also till the soil adding aeration, although not to the extent an isopod will.
The type we sell are Temperate Springtails (Folsomia candida), meaning they can be used both indoors and outdoors without dying over winter. They are best for all terrariums! We cannot stress enough how beneficial these little friends are!
Each starter colony comes with 8oz of bioactive substrate with plenty of buggos!* This will be sufficient for most terrariums/ vivariums. It comes in a small deli container as shown.
*Due to the size of the animals being so small, we are unable to individually handle Springtails and cannot give an exact number. We aim for roughly 30-50 in each culture.
