Isopods are a must for all terrariums! They are vital to the health of terrariums because they eat the decomposing materials like dead leaves, rotting wood, and other undesirable material. They will also till the soil adding aeration while also helping to fertilize the soil!
The Giant Canyon (Porcellio dilatatus) are a large species with moderate breeding and BIG appetites. They are best in terrariums with something that can eat them, like frogs, lizards, or carnivorous plants. This is because they can breed quickly and will need their population kept in check. They will need additional food given weekly. This is the best feeder species, and is very drought tolerant!
Each starter colony comes with 10-12 isopods and will be sufficient for most terrariums/ vivariums. It comes in a small deli container as shown.
